Re: Wound Management In Australia

We, the undersigned, petition the Federal Government of Australia to pay urgent attention to the problem of chronic wounds – an issue that currently affects over 270,000 older Australians.

  1. Wounds in Australia are rife. This social problem can be fixed and is avoidable.
  2. The current funding situation means that in many cases people go without health treatment because they cannot afford to pay for it.
  3. The instances of chronic wounds in the future can be significantly reduced. This will generate immediate savings in the health system.
  4. Despite its prevalence, this health issue has been virtually unacknowledged by Federal Government for decades.
  5. The Australian Wound Management Association is yet to be provided with a meaningful reason why this problem continues to go unaddressed by Federal Government.

We the undersigned are calling upon the Government to take leadership on this issue in order to reduce the widespread and avoidable suffering.
